Despite a handful of people turning up for the +250 Heineken House party at the Gikondo expo grounds on Friday evening, DJs did their best to keep the few revellers on the dance floor.

The event started at 6p.m with female spin mistress DJ Sasha from Kenya on decks warming up the crowd with some old school music and played till 8p.m.

Ushering the crowd into the partying mood was DJ Pyfo who played Afro beat and fresh hip hop tunes from 8p.m to 11p.m.

The event was well organised; with great sound, lighting and fully stocked bars creating a serene environment for their guests.

Bralirwa officials also graced the event to celebrate their award as the best exhibitor at the just concluded international expo in Kigali.

The officials had much to celebrate as they danced their hearts out as they enjoyed the barbecue and drinks that were accompanied with great music.

Jan Van Velzen Bralirwa marketing director said the house party was about offering a venue/platform to young people to  showcase their talents.

"We facilitated this party to offer young entrepreneurs like Dj Africano to showcase his talent. Before the party started I was curious about how people would respond to a new music scene, it is a pity that the turn up was not as expected but I am happy with the setting and will definitely continue doing such kind of things because we think there is a lot of merit into it,” Velzen comments.

Some Primus Guma Guma artistes like Christopher and Derek from Active also graced the event. The night was crowned by mixing maestro DJ Africano who played from 11p.m to midnight introducing house music which was well received by the crowd.

The party ended a few minutes past midnight, though some revelers were clearly in no mood to call it a night.

The event was organised by Africanomania Ltd in partnership with Heineken with the aim of educating Rwandans about the power and beauty of house music.
