Editor,

Allow me to react to the Editorial, "Society must address housewife challenges” (The New Times, August 22).

It is not only okay but it is right for a woman to depend on her husband. A woman and her husband are one and they don’t view themselves as separate and the income belonging to one but both.

It is very important for housewives to look after their homes and mother their children. What good is in the Western ideology of woman independence with rotten homes, dying marriages and wild children because of busy and rich but absent mothers?

Bravo Rwandans; don't let some scare you into commercialising your homes and wives. Life and the home is not all about money but it is the other silent things like available mothers at home and fathers committed to their families that build a nation not everyone in the house rushing to go get an income and neglecting the home and children.
