GS Kabusunzu girls football team, under the guidance of AS Kigali and national women team coach Grace Nyinawumuntu, have set their sights on winning the title at the forthcoming FEASSA Games.  

The East African Post-Primary Games are scheduled to get underway on August 24 and run until August 31 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

GS Kabusunzu won this year’s national inter-schools championships two months ago, and will be looking to be the first Rwandan team to claim the regional title.

In 2012, in Bujumbura, Burundi, Solidarity Academy, also then under the guidance of Nyinawumuntu, reached the final but lost 4-3 on penalty shootouts to Kawembe Muslim of Uganda after a 1-all draw.

"I’ve been in these competitions for several years and this time I have a younger team, but they are well motivated and are willing to learn. I’m confident we will stage a good performance in Tanzania” Nyinawumuntu told Times Sport yesterday before setting off for Dar-es-Salaam.

Rwanda’s delegation of 273 players and 73 officials at the annual event left the country by bus on Thursday through Rusumo board crossing.

The country will be represented in nine sports disciplines namely; football, basketball, volleyball, handball, tennis, table tennis, netball, rugby and athletics.
