RWANDA’S teams for this year’s East African Post-Primary (FEASSA) Games leave for Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania today ahead of the competition kickoff, set to run from August 24-31.

The 346-member delegation, including 273 players and 73 officials, travels by road through the Rusumo boarder. They are led by Paterne Rwigema, the official in charge of sports in the Ministry of Education.

The players will represent the country in nine different sports disciplines namely; football, basketball, volleyball, handball, tennis, table tennis, netball, rugby and athletics.

Rwandan teams will be fighting for a better showing after returning home empty-handed in the last two editions of the annual regional secondary schools competitions.

"We’re leaving for Tanzania on Thursday morning; all the teams will gather at Rusumo high school on Wednesday (yesterday) before crossing the border. "We have prepared our teams well and I hope we will return home with some silverware this time round,” Rwanda School Sports Federation technical director Aaron Rurangirwa said.
