Beach V-ball teams stumble at Nanjing Youth Olympic Games

Rwanda beach volleyball teams in both genders lost their first games at the Youth Olympic Games Nanjing, China on Sunday.

Rwanda beach volleyball teams in both genders lost their first games at the Youth Olympic Games Nanjing, China on Sunday.

In the women category, the Rwandan duo of Seraphine Mukantambara and Lea Uwimbabazi lost to their Australian opponents 2-0 (14-21, 4-21), while the boys’ pair of Elias Ndagano and Sylvestre Ndayisabye was beaten by Venezuelans by the same score, 2-0 (7- 21, 8-21).

By press time, the boys’ team was due to play against the United States, while their female counterparts were up against Vanuatu. 

Rwanda is represented  by 10 athletes in four sports disciplines, namely ;  athletics, swimming, beach volleyball and cycling.

The 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games started on Saturday and will end on August 28.
