Azam vs El Mereikh

Azam coach Joseph Omog is buoyant ahead of his team’s quarterfinal clash against Sudanese champions El Meriekh on Tuesday at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Tanzanian league champions Azam finished second in group A, two points behind Rayon Sports, while El Meriekh finished second in Group C, four points behind Police FC.

"It is too difficult to play against big teams but we are ready for the game, we want to give our best in this tie,” Omog said following Azam’s 4-1 win over Adama City on Sunday, before adding that "to score early will give us a greater advantage but we all know how difficult it is going to be.”

He added: "Ultimately, El Meriekh will create chances but we have to try to score goals and try to limit their chances.”

"For me, I always tell players about the need for collective performance, my players know that and it will help us play as a team and I am very pleased with the way players have been doing so far. We have been doing very well,” the Cameroonian tactician added.
