Rwanda Revenue Authority women volleyball team coach Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye has praised his team’s performance after winning this year’s NSSF-KAVC memorial tournament title.

The champions returned to Kigali on Monday, and Ndayikengurukiye told Times Sport in his first interview after the triumph that the tournament helped his players raise their game as they seek to win the local league, which is in the second round.

"I want to congratulate all my players for the effort each one of them has put in to make this dream a reality. Now our focus is to win the local league,” the former KVC right attacker noted.

He added: "Such tournaments are good for the development of the sport in our region, it gives exposure to our players and raises the level their level of performance.”

The Genocide memorial tournament champions beat won the NSSF-KAVC tournament after beating Vision Volleyball Club 3-0 (25-23, 25-15 and 25–22) in the final in Kampala.

"Every player gave everything to achieve this feat, so we are all thrilled. We have had a fantastic run and I hope we will continue through the end of the season,” added the former national team skipper.

The tax collectors lead the table with 37 points, six ahead of rivals APR.
