LEAGUE CHAMPIONS Ubumwe basketball club is targeting this year’s women’s playoffs title. Ubumwe BBC, who claimed the regular women’s league crown after dethroning seven-time winners APR, are now aiming for a double (league and play-offs) and are ready to achieve the milestone, at least according to them. Ubumwe are starting their quest for the title tomorrow afternoon at Amahoro indoor stadium against Rwanda Allied Peace for Progress (RAPP).

And on Wednesday, they will be up against title holders APR.  "We are working hard to win a double this season, after winning the league few weeks ago we’re focused on the playoffs and, trust me, my players are hungry for titles than ever before” Ubumwe head coach Jacques Bahige roared. "APR are our closest rivals but we are ready for them. We focus on one game at a time and right now we’re targeting a victory over RAPP on Sunday then after the APR hurdle,” he told Saturday Sport yesterday. Bahige doubles as national women team coach.

Last evening, RAPP were expected to face APR in the women’s competition while Espoir were due to take on UGB, with CSK coming up against APR in men’s category.
