Police in Musanze District arrested three people suspected of forging and selling drivers’ licences.

The suspects were apprehended on Thursday in Mpenge Cell, Muhoza Sector.

At the time of their arrest, the trio was found in possession of two forged definitive licences.

One of the seized fake licences was in the names of one of the suspects.

Police said the suspects are currently held at Muhoza Police Station as investigations continue.

Supt. Emmanuel Hitayezu, the Police spokesperson for the Northern region, said they are still looking for the fourth person said to be connected to this ring.

He added that the forgery was reported by members of the public, who saw the suspects fighting after a disagreement.

"When people searched them trying to establish what could have caused the fight, they found two forged licences on them. They called and handed them to Police,” Hitayezu said.

He warned against the vice, adding that the process to acquire a driving licence has been made easier, which seekers should seize instead of going through such unlawful channels.
