Government departments will now find it easier to monitor and evaluate the second Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS II) progammes following the release of Rwanda’s first metadata handbook to guide them.

Yusuf Murangwa, the director general of the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) boss, said the handbook, Rwanda Metadata Handbook for EDPRS II and MDGs, will ease monitoring and evaluation of the progress of different projects under EDPRS II. He added that the publication is the first consolidated book on Rwanda’s metadata.

"We had already identified some indicators, including those for the attainment of Millennium Development Goals and the country’s Vision 2020 programme. However, with EDPRS II some pillars, like youth productivity, are specific. So, we integrated such indicators (which had not been included before) to help implementers keep track of the programme,” he said at the release of the book yesterday.
