U-19 boys cricket team heads to Zambia for African tourney

RWANDA’S U-19 boys’ cricket team has jetted out to Lusaka, Zambia for this year’s ICC Africa U-19 Division 2 tournament, scheduled from August 9-16.

RWANDA’S U-19 boys’ cricket team has jetted out to Lusaka, Zambia for this year’s ICC Africa U-19 Division 2 tournament, scheduled from August 9-16.

Rwanda will compete with six other teams which include; Swaziland, Mozambique, Sierra Leon, Ghana, Tanzania and hosts Zambia where the winner will qualify for Division 1, which includes Uganda, Kenya, Namibia and Nigeria.

Head coach Edward Pearson said they have prepared well and are focused on winning the trophy.

The Rwandan team will be aiming to better last year’s performance when they finished 3rd in the tournament. 

Full team: Don de Dieu Mugisha (captain), Orchide Tuyisenge, Clinton Rubagumya, Eric Niyomugabo, David Uwimana, Adelin Tuyizere, Valens Muvunyi, Bosco Tuyizere and Wilson Ndayambaje.

Others are; Arsene Muganineza, Zappy Maurice Bimenyimana, Freddy Ndayisenga, Jean Paul Komezumuheto and Charles Karasira.
