RAYON SPORTS are in talks with several players as they seek to replace star striker Cedric Amissi, their best player for the last two seasons.

The Burundi international joined Mozambique first division side Chibuto FC in May.

By press time, Rayon Sports, who are preparing to compete in this year’s Cecafa Kagame Cup, which kicks off tomorrow, were waiting for the arrival of two players from Togo, according to the club president Theogene Ntampaka.

However, Ntampaka declined to give the names of the duo, but confirmed that the Nyanza-based outfit is also in talks with Nigerian striker Samson Chukwu and Burundi’s Pierrot Kwizera.

"Yes we will do everything possible to get the players we need because we need to replace Amissi, who was a key player for us,” Ntampaka told Times Sport yesterday.

He added, "We are not only talking to foreign players, but also locals, we need to have a strong team, which will be able compete for trophies next season, including the league, Peace Cup and Africa Confederation Cup.”

In the Cecafa Kagame Cup, Rayon Sports are in Group A, along with Azam from Tanzania, Adamma FC (Ethiopia), Atlbara (South Sudan) and KMKM (Zanzibar).
