Police beat Rayon in pre-season friendly

ANDRE CASSA MBUNGO started life in his new job as Police FC head coach by beating Rayon Sports 2-0 in a pre-season friendly match at Kigali Regional Stadium on Sunday.

Both goals came in the second half through Amavubi striker Jacques Tuyisenge.  

The match was also serving as a warm-up game for both sides ahead of the Cacafa Kagame cup that kicks off on August 8 and will go o until Aug. 24. Matches will be played at Amahoro National Stadium and Kigali Regional Stadium.

Rayon will play in the opening game against Young Africans (Yanga) of Tanzania on Friday, while Police will battle it out with El Merreick of Sudan on Saturday.  

Coffee of Ethopia and Flambeau de l’Est of Burundi have pulled out the regional meet and have since been replaced by Adamma and Atletico, respectively.

Burundi’s Vital’O, coached by former Kiyovu SC and Amavubi tactician Gilbert Kanyankore, are the defending champions.

They lifted the regional club trophy at the expense of APR after winning the final 2-0 in Darfur, Sudan.
