Where is the passion for local football?

ALLOW ME to react to the article, "Why are Rwandans obsessed with English Football?” (The New Times, August 2).

All stakeholders in football need to find their rhythm, passion and innovation first before local fans can come back to follow local football. We used to listen to Congolese, and then Ugandan music before our own took shape; now you have to put in a special request to hear the good old Rumba. Why, the local music industry played its part and now, we are listening!

So, before the local the football industry, if I may call it so, rediscovers its soul, I am afraid we will stick to the Premier League.

I’M AN Arsenal fan. I have never watched any local soccer game in Rwanda since 2003 and I always never regret that.

First of all the English Premier League is more organised—we know the end of the league even before it starts. But Rwandan Premier League is disorganised.
