Cyclists register mixed results in time trial

RWANDAN CYCLING duo of Hadi Janvier and Valens Ndayisenga staged a promising performance on their debut in the men’s 38.4 kilometre time trial at the Commonwealth in Glasgow on Thursday. 

Hadi finished  in 19th position  after clocking 54:47:41, while Ndayisenga managed a 23-place finish in 56:38:87. 

English Alex Dowsett won a gold medal after coming ahead of Rohan Dennis (Australia) and Geraint Thomas (Wales). 

Veteran rider Adrien Niyonshuti was rested for Sunday’s road race due to fatigue which resulted from their late arrival in the athletes’ village. 

Janvier Hadi, Gasore Hategeka, Valens Ndayisenga, Jean Bosco Nsengimana, and Bonaventure Uwizeyimana will compete in the road race on Sunday in Glasgow.
