THE SEMI-FINAL round of this year’s youth national Airtel Rising Stars football competition has been postponed to next weekend.

Airtel Rwanda Communication Director, John Magara confirmed the development yesterday saying that the slight change came after learning that almost all players from teams which had reached the last four were engaged in national exams in their respective schools.

The U17 Airtel-sponsored football competition that includes both male and female categories is in the semi-final stage and is set to conclude with finals on the weekend of August 1-3 at Kigali Regional Stadium.

In boys’ category, semi-finalists are Football for Hope and Top Guys both from Kigali and Gatsibo Academy and Kayonza Training Center from Eastern Province.

Draws of how teams will meet in battle for slots in the finals will be held prior to the semi-final kick-off.

The tournament is aimed at providing the needed platform to young talents to become world class stars.
