Thirty two Police officers among them three females yesterday completed a three-month ‘Supervisory Course’ at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District.

During the three-month intensive training designed in light of today’s policing challenges, participants covered matters related to crime prevention, police command, operations, administration, supervisory duties and Information Technology (IT) skills among others.

Superintendent Emmanuel Gahigi, one of the participants said the course enlightened them on the modern policing skills in crime prevention.

"The policing arena is evolving and we got this chance to acquire new skills in crime prevention, investigation, which will help us to further accomplish our duties and the force’s mandate in general,” Supt. Gahigi said.

Closing the training, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda, thanked trainees for successful completion of the course and urged them to put the the acquired skills to good use.

"It’s now time for you to put to use the new policing skills and knowledge you got in this intensive course; that’s what Rwanda National Police and Rwandans expect from you; they expect quality and timely services,” Marizamunda said.

He appealed to the trainees to be disciplined and exemplary officers and work together in giving quality services.

Supt. Beline Mukamana, Chief Inspector Herbert Rutaru and Inspector Jean Phillipe were awarded as first, second and third best overall students respectively.
