Rwanda’s US based Adeline Umubyeyi is vying for the Miss Africa USA contest that will take place on August 9 at Strathmore theater in Maryland, USA.  The 20-year-old is the reigning Miss Rwanda USA 2014.

The Miss Africa USA Pageant brings together young women from different African countries living in USA to share their cultures with the rest of the world. 

Umubyeyi is competing against other African beauties for the Miss Africa USA 2014 crown.  According to the pageant official website, missafricausa.org, she says her mission is to improve the lives of Rwandan women and children. 

"My mission as Miss Rwanda USA 2014 is to improve and raise awareness about maternal healthcare in Rwanda. I want to construct a medical center in Mayanga, Southern province which is my birth place.” 

This is the 9th edition of Miss Africa USA since its inception in 2005
