Here’s what makes Rwanda tick

Editor,

Refer to Allan Brian Ssenyonga’s article, "What is Rwanda selling that neighbours are not” (Sunday Times, July 13).

Rwanda has been selling all sorts of things. As a matter of truth, Rwanda and its leadership have been receiving good and bad publicity.

At first, it was the negative press from regional and international media which prevailed largely because their hope was to see Rwanda become a failed state after the horrors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Yet Rwanda defied the world when it resisted and refused to comply with the colonial and missionary perennial and serial definitions of Africans. That categorical refusal, to be put in a box, does not please Uncle Tom and the like.

Yes, our neighbours, came to find out for themselves the real crux of the matter, if what was being said about us was true or not. They found that most of what our enemies were propagating was not true.

Being a small but well organised country, it is easy to move around unperturbed and discover the real image of the country and its inhabitants.
