Police in Gasabo have recovered a wide range of electronics said to have been stolen from various parts of Kigali in recent months.

The equipment includes 13 television sets, eight computers and 12 mobile phones. They were seized in an operation conducted jointly with local leaders on Wednesday and Thursday in the sectors of Kimihurura, Gisozi and Kacyiru.

Other recovered goods are three digital cameras, a projector, 12 hard disks, a printer, generator and home theaters.

Two people (names withheld), said to be the brains behind the robbery in various parts of the city, were also arrested. They are currently detained at Remera Police Station.

Supt. Modeste Mbabazi, the Police spokesperson for central region, said the arrest of the duo followed leads by their accomplice, who had been apprehended earlier.

"We got information recently from a man we had arrested earlier with four stolen flat screens that led to the arrest of the two others,” Supt. Mbabazi said.

"The operation is still ongoing to arrest all those connected to this robbery ring and to recover other stolen items,” he added.

He also appealed to the general public to always provide timely information in case of theft and people they suspect to be involved in such criminal acts, to help to recover their property in time.

"Members of the public who are victims of such robberies can go to Remera Police Station to reclaim their property, but they must produce supporting documents indicating that they are the rightful owners of the items in question,” he said.
