AMAVUBI AND RAYON SPORTS striker Meddie Kagere is set to join Albania’s top division club KF Tirana on a two-year contract.

According to KF Tirana, Kagere signed a two-year contract with the club on Monday, June 30. KF Tirana is the most successful Albanian football club, with 49 major trophies under its belt.

It is reported that the Albanian club paid Rayon Sports $10,000 for the one-year contract that was still remaining on his agreement with the blues.

When contacted on phone yesterday, Kagere could not deny or acknowledge the reports. He said, "My agent has been in talks with the club, so I am still waiting for his response.”

In September, last year, Kagere signed a two-year Rwf9 million move contract to former Rayon Sports after his move to Lebanon Premier League side Safa Sporting Club hit a snag following the club’s failure to include him on the list of players for next season and failed to give him a feedback on his status despite claims that he had passed trials.

In trials with Safa Sc last month, he played four matches and scored three goals. The Rwandan international talisman spent three seasons at Police, scoring 38 league goals.

The forward came to Rwanda League five years ago and was given Rwandan nationality to feature for Amavubi. He was a hit at the 2011 Cecafa Tusker Senior Challenge Cup in Tanzania where he helped Rwanda reach the final against eventual winners Uganda.

The striker left Police FC in early 2013 to join Esperance for close to US$150,000. However, his contract in Tunisia was terminated because the team filed for bankruptcy.

Kagere has featured for Atraco, Mukura and Police FC.
