APR 1-0 Police

LEAGUE CHAMPIONS APR proved a nut to break as they edged Police to win the 2014 Peace Cup title, their eighth domestic cup title since 2002.

Michel Ndahinduka scored the lone goal in the 61st minute to enable the military side celebrate their second silverware of the season.

Police dominated the game with APR being pushed to play a defensive game throughout. However, a defensive error enabled Ndahinduka to score an aerial ball from Charles Tibingana’s corner giving the military side the lead.

Goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli made brilliant saves from Sina Jerme and Emmanuel Sebanani’s efforts as the cops pressed their opponents for an equaliser.

The win opened another history chapter for APR which has won two trophies this year after opting for home grown players two years ago. This year’s title victory follows the 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Peace Cup triumphs.

Arch rivals Rayon Sports benefitted from Police’s loss as they will now represent Rwanda at next year’s Orange Confederation Cup due to their second place finish in last season’s football league.
