Players Abroad: Byiringiro’s magic continues as Bizimana dazzles in Ukraine

Lague Byiringiro scored his eighth league goal of the season on Saturday as Sandviken IF thrashed Taby 3-0 in the Ettan Norra League.

It was a fair weekend for Rwandan players abroad as a host of them continue to impress at their respective clubs.

Forward Lague Byiringiro took his tally to 8 goals in 13 games as he continues his fine form in his debut season in Sweden whereas Djihad Bizimana also propelled FC Kryvbas to second place in the Ukrainian Premier League with a wonderful display over the weekend.

Times Sport takes a look at how Rwandan players fared abroad over the weekend.

Sweden

In the Superettan League, Rafael York saw 90 minutes of action as his side Gefle IF traveled to Jamkraft Arena to draw 2-2 with Ostersunds FK but his brother Torre Rafael did not make the Gefle match day squad.

In the same division, striker Kaleleo Uwimbabazi played full throttle for Pitea IF who held Nordic United to a 1-1 draw.

Belgium

Teenager Hakim Sahabo was an unused substitute for the second team of Standard Liege who lost 1-0 at home to KV Oostende on Sunday night in the Challenger League.

Samuel Gueulette was in action for Raal La Louviere who pipped Winkel Sports 1-0 but Salomon Nirisarike was not in the squad of KVK Tienen who lost 2-1 to Olympique Charleroi.

Netherlands

Noam Emeran is expected to feature for FC Gronningen when they take on Jong PSV on Monday night.

Ukraine

Amavubi skipper Djihad Bizimana put up a commanding display in the heart of FC Kryvbas’ midfield. He played the entire 90 minutes as his side climbed to second position on the league table after a 2-1 Victory over Veres-Rivne

France

Warren Kamanzi replaced Frank Magri in the 84th minute as Toulouse held Olympique Marseille to a goalless draw in Ligue 1.

In the CFA, Bryan Ngwabije was introduced in the second half as his club ASF Andrezieux lost 1-0 to Hyeres

Slovenia

Central defender Dylan Georges Maes replaced Rene Prodanovic in the 87th minute as his side FK Tolmin registered an emphatic 3-0 over FK Rudar.

Saudi Arabia

Holding midfielder Steve Rubanguka featured for his new club Al Nojoom as they beat Al Shoullah 2-1 on match day 1 of the Saudi Arabian second tier.

Norway

Claus Niyunkuri, who is of Rwandan and Burundian parentage, played 72 minutes for FK Haugesund before being replaced by 19-year-old Vegard Solheim as they lost 2-0 to Viking

Ange Mutsinzi played 90 minutes for FK Jerv who lost 1-0 to IK Start at the JJ Ugland Stadium. Clement Twizere Buhake was also in the post for Strommen who beat Alta 1-0.

King Josias Fruraha saw 77 minutes of action for Flekkeroy before being substituted in their 1-0 defeat to Egersund.

Luxembourg

Central midfielder Sven Kalisa was in action for Etzella Ettelbruck who beat Grevenmacher 2-1.

Elsewhere, right back Jonathan Nsanzimana featured for FC Residence Walferdange who played out a goalless with Mamer.

Algeria

Playmaker Djabel Manishimwe was on the bench as his side Kenchela beat ES Setif 1-0.

Switzerland

Quentin Rushenguziminega put up another superb show as his side FC Echallens beat FC Sarras Eclepenz 2-0.

Meanwhile, Espoir Niyo Nsanzineza was an unused substitute for FC Rapperswil-Jona who beat Yverdon 1-0 on Sunday.

Kenya

Patrick Sibomana was a full timer for Gor Mahia who thrashed Nairobi City Stars 4-1. Compatriot Emery Bayisenge was not in the match day squad of Gor Mahia.

CAF Champions League

Star defender Emmanuel Imanishimwe was not included in the match day squad of AS FAR Rabat who lost 1-0 to Etoile Sportif du Sahel at the Stade de Sousse in Tunis, Tunisia.

Ally Niyonzima featured for Bumamuru FC who were humiliated 4-0 in Bujumbura by South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

Abeddy Biramihire was not involved as UD Songo lost 2-1 to Petro de Luanda in Maputo

CAF Confederation Cup

Veteran attacker Meddie Kagere started from the bench in Singida Fountain Gate’s 1-0 win over Egyptian side Future Stars.
