Hundreds of music fans turned up at Millie Colline Hotel for the Kigali Up Sound check series on Friday last week.

The sound check Series is a new platform to nurture, support and promote high quality music from the region and beyond.

Kigali Up sound check series is a precursor to the fourth annual Kigali Up Festival that will set off on July 19th and 20th at Amahoro stadium.

By 6pm, doors were open and music fans had already flocked the place. The event started at 7pm as gospel maestros Gabby Kamanzi, Aline Gahongayire, and Cynthia among others hit the stage with a wonderful performance.

Micho band was up next and then traditional folk singers Gakondo group put on a wonderful performance that could only be superseded by Mighty Popo who was the last artiste to perform.

Mighty Popo came on stage amidst cheers and thunderous applause. He belted out songs like; life is celebration, Muhazi, Nibarize among others. The concert came to a close at around midnight and it proved to be a worthwhile precursor to the main event.

Kigali Up Festival will feature among other artistes, Alpha Rwirangira, Angel Umutoni, Christopher, Jay Polly, Jules Sentore, Paccy, Ras Kayaga and Riderman. International artistes include Didier Award, Rhonda Benin, and Joy brake.
