POPULAR Kenya-based Burundian artiste Kidumu is scheduled to perform in Kigali on July 11.

The 39-year-old has performed in Kigali several times but only on invitation from other artistes or promoters. But this time, the Yaramenje singer says he is staging his own concert.

Kidumu, whose real name is Jean Pierre Nimbona, began his music career as a drummer in Burundi, working with several different bands including Imvumero band from 1986 to1992 and Imboneza band from1992 to1993.

In 1994, he started his own band called Electric Power but the unrest in the country forced him to flee to exile in Kenya, consequently leading to the collapse of the band.

In Kenya, he joined the Hot Rod Band which he worked with until the end of 2003 when he formed his own Boda Boda Band.

Kidumu has also collaborated with many local artistes around East Africa including two time Tusker Project Fame winner Alpha Rwirangira, who will also grace the show.

The concert will be held at Kigali Serena Hotel and entrance fee is Rwf 10,000.
