About 500 patients are to benefit from free healthcare this week courtesy of a visiting team of four Indian specialists. The service is expected to be offered at Hopital La Croix Du Sud, also known as Kwa Nyirinkwaya, Kigali, from Thursday to Saturday.

"We shall handle cancer-related cases, gynecological,  cardiac and orthopedic issues,” said Dr Anthony V. Pais, a surgical oncologist attached to Narayana Hrudyalaya Health City, a hospital chain based in India.

He said they were in the country at the invitation of the hospital.

"We believe health transcends borders. Offering our services across territories does not only give us a chance to save lives but also to learn best practices from other countries,”   noted Dr Saikat Kanjilal, a cardiologist with the same hospital.
