Skol Brewery has introduced a new beer on the market, Skol lager, creating more options for beer lovers.

Skol Brewery, the makers of the lager said in a statement yesterday that the new beer brand will complement the brewer’s successful Skol Malt and contribute to the growth of its other brands that include Gatanu and Virunga Mist.

According to the statement, Skol lager will be available in a 50 centilitres brown bottle at the cost of Rwf600 nationwide.

"Skol lager consumers can expect to enjoy a smooth, crisp, refreshing and easy drinking lager beer,” the statement added.

However, the new beer, Skol Lager, will face rivalry from market-established brands like Primus and Mutzig of Bralirwa.

Skol brewery is a subsidiary of UNIBRA, a Belgium-based company with interests in breweries, real estate and financial services.

The company was founded in Rwanda in 2010 and is now one of the fastest growing companies in the country.

However, Rwanda Stock Exchange listed Bralirwa still controls a large share of the market. The industry faced declines in revenues last year, mainly attributed to slow economic growth that directly affected consumers’ spending power.
