The High Court in Nyamirambo on Friday, September 15, resumed the hearing in the case of Dieudonné Ishimwe, the man commonly called Prince Kid.

During the court session, the focus was on new audio evidence that emerged in the case. The prosecution argued that an audio recording in question was not new evidence and that an audio earlier presented in court was the original recording.

According to the prosecution, a witness using the code name VBF recorded the voice using a phone.

However, the defence disagreed with the audio as evidence, arguing that there is insufficient conclusive proof of its authenticity.

Ishimwe and his legal team requested for justice to be served.

Ishimwe, commenting on the questionable authenticity of the report, argued that the phone in question, which purportedly recorded him, was identified as an iPhone 14 Pro Max in the report, with a recording date of April 16, 2022. However, according to Apple's official release information, the iPhone 14 Pro Max was not even available until September 7 of the same year.

The presiding judge pointed out that the trial has concluded, and the court will take time to review the evidence and statements presented by both parties. The verdict is scheduled to be delivered on October 13.

Ishimwe, the chief executive of Rwanda Inspiration Back Up and the former organiser of the Miss Rwanda beauty pageant, has been entangled in a legal battle since 2022 when he was arrested and charged with soliciting sexual favours, harassment, and rape.

In December 2022, the intermediate court of Nyarugenge acquitted him due to insufficient evidence but the prosecution appealed.

Ishimwe recently tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend, Elsa Iradukunda, who was crowned Miss Rwanda 2017.
