The Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), in partnership with the Women in Finance Rwanda Foundation (WIFR), on September 13, presented scholarships to 20 women during an event held at I&M Bank premises.

The recipients of these scholarships, upon completion of a six-month one-year programme, will receive certifications in the Fundamentals of Financial Services and qualifications in Sustainable and Responsible Investment Professional Assessment.

The Fundamentals of Financial Services qualification serves as an ideal starting point, fostering the basic knowledge necessary for success in the financial sector. The course provides an overview of the industry and a general understanding of financial terminology.

Upon completion of the Sustainable and Responsible Investment Professional Assessment, participants are set to gain essential expertise in areas such as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations, including sustainable and green investment practices.

Fifty applications were received, in total, which is more than double the intended number of scholarships awarded. To accommodate the additional applicants, WIFR is exploring ways to positively impact even more aspiring women professionals, by calling to action more supporting partners.

One of the beneficiaries, Sarah Mutawogora, a senior manager of Culture Transformation at Bank of Kigali, expressed her gratitude by stating, "This scholarship allows me to acquire the necessary expertise to make a positive impact in the financial services sector, ultimately contributing to Rwanda&039;s sustainable development."

Diane Seneza, Treasury Foreign Exchange Sales Dealer at I&M Bank, highlighted the value of the scholarships, stating, "Receiving this scholarship is a significant milestone in my career. It equips me with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in sustainable and responsible investments, which are critical for the future of our industry."

The scholarships, made possible through the partnership between CISI and WIFR, will be awarded annually. They are intended to create a pathway for women in finance to further their professional development.

The programmes will be conducted virtually, to accommodate the schedules of the already in-workforce women.

Beneficiaries were given certifications in the Fundamentals of Financial Services and qualifications in Sustainable and Responsible Investment Professional Assessment.
