RWANDA FOOTBALL federation will support entrepreneurs interested in investing in youth football programmes through running youth centres and clinics.

One of the investors that Ferwafa has accepted to support is Moses Kamanzi, a Rwandan based in the USA and coach of the U16 team of Riverside Youth Soccer Club, in Ohio State.

In a phone interview with Times Sport Kamanzi revealed that he is interested in setting up a football academy in Rwanda.

"I have already talked to the federation (Ferwafa) and they have shown interest to support my project.  They have allowed me to present my final project plan to them.  It’s only through proper youth development programmes that Rwandan football is going to reach another level.”

"What I am doing here (USA) is the same thing I want to do for my people back at home. I want to see Rwandan football move to a new level,” Kamanzi noted.

In a separate interview, Ferwafa Secretary General, Olivier Mulindahabi, acknowledged that indeed they have been in touch with Kamanzi.

"Yes, it’s true we have already talked with him and have asked him to send us the final project proposal in order to see how the federation can assist him. Ferwafa is willing and ready support anyone that comes up with a youth development project, it is our responsibility,” Mulindahabi said.

Kamanzi, a former student of Kigali Institute of Education (currently University of Rwanda College of Education), begun his coaching career in 2007, the same year he graduated and moved to the U.S.

He received a Fifa coaching license that permitted him to coach U-10 in 2009 at Huber Heights Youth Football Club.

After two successful seasons, he joined his current team Riverside Youth Soccer Club, which competes in a youth league composed of 16 teams.
