23 teams confirmed for memorial tournament

Twenty-three clubs have confirmed their participation in this year’s Genocide Memorial tournament scheduled to run from June 7-8 in Kigali. The Rwanda Volleyball Federation Secretary General Christian Hatumimana confirmed the development in an interview with Sunday Sport on Thursday.

Twenty-three clubs have confirmed their participation in this year’s Genocide Memorial tournament scheduled to run from June 7-8 in Kigali. The Rwanda Volleyball Federation Secretary General Christian Hatumimana confirmed the development in an interview with Sunday Sport on Thursday.

Out of the 23 teams, hosts Rwanda will enter eight (four for men and four in the women’s category), while the rest are teams from the neighboring countries including; Uganda, Kenya and Burundi.

The matches will be played at Amahoro indoor stadium, Kimisagara Youth Sports Centre, Rafiki, KIST and Primature courts. In the women’s category, Rwanda will be represented by APR, Ruhango, ST Alloys and last year finalists Rwanda Revenue Authority, while for men’s category has; APR, Rayon Sports, Kigali Volleyball Club and defending champions INATEK. Kenya’s Pipeline won the women’s title last year.

Uganda will be represented by Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club, Vision, Nemo Stars, Ndejje University, and SPORT –S (women) as well as Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club, Sky, Nemo Stars, Ndejje University, and SPORT –S for men. Kenya will send only women teams including; Water and Youth Council, while Burundi will have Muzinga in women category as well as Muzinga and Rukinzo (men).
