As part of this year’s Labour Day celebrations, staff at World Vision Rwanda got together and used the day as a great opportunity to spend quality time playing & praying together.

Speaking to staff during the celebrations that brought together all staff from World Vision Rwanda Head Office, World Vision Rwan da National Director George Gitau called upon staff to embrace TEECAP values (Teamwork-Ex-cellence-Execution-Commit-ment-Accountability-Passion), which he said were winning values that can help the organization de-liver value and impact in the lives of children and communities.

He said that all TEECAP values were about customer care and that they demonstrate people who are deeply rooted in the understanding of why they do what they do. He defined teamwork as working with others to achieve more value, demonstrating love, positive attitude and care for others. George called upon staff to work hard towards excellence, which he described as going beyond the ordinary.

"It is important we ask ourselves questions like "who do I work for? Ours is a different calling because we have been called by God. If you are working for your supervisor, you are in a wrong place. Even as we celebrate, we should ask ourselves "how do we serve?” he challenged staff."It is important that we under-stand the importance of customer care and that our major customers are children. Without the 86,000 children that we directly sponsor, we wouldn’t be here. You should ask yourself questions like "Why me?” "Why am I here?” We should know that there are many other people very capable of doing what we do, but God has called us for a purpose. Therefore, let us serve him with passion and total commitment,” he said.

During the Labour Day celebration, a series of fun activities were organized including recognition for best internal & external customer support individuals, team building exercises, scavenger hunts, marshmallow challenges and trivia quizzes. World Vision Rwanda Staff Celebrate Labour Day"TEAMS THAT PLAY & PRAY TOGETHER STICK TOGETHER” Alida Bivegete was voted by staff and awarded for being the best customer support staff.

According to the Deputy Nation-al Director Cynthia Labi, fostering on teamwork is a top priority for World Vision Leadership and this is promoted through TEECAP. She outlined the benefits of teamwork, which she said included increased productivity, improved customer service and employee empowerment to effectively implement teams.

Cynthia called upon staff to grasp the six TEECAP elements, which she said can lead to a tremendous change in the way employees re-late with each other, thus detect-ably resulting into higher performances.
