Cash-strapped AS Muhanga and Esperance were yesterday relegated to the second football league tier after the former failed to show up for their final game of the season against eventual champions APR FC, with the latter playing to a goalless draw against Gicumbi.

AS Muhanga finished rock bottom with just 18 points from 26 matches, while Esperance, who finished in 13th position on the log, only managed 21 points.

Kimisagara-based Esperance had been promoted to the topflight football in the preceding season, 2012/13.

Amagaju completed a surprise comeback beating Etincelles 2-1 in Rubavu to ensure their stay in top division football.
