The International Labour Day Celebrations by management and staff of Rwanda Social Security Board were filled with pomp and fanfare, dotted by sports activities and crowned by a sumptuous meal. A total of eleven teams (Bank of Kigali, MINADEF, MINALOC,MINISANTE, RNRA, RRA, BNR, EWSA, MIDMAR, Inyange Industries and RSSB) competed in volleyball, basketball and football.

The sports gala is an annual labour day tournament organized by ARSTS, a sports association of workers both inthe public and private sectors, in collaboration with Ministry of Public Service and Labour. The winners in public institutions were RSSB - football, RSSB - volleyball, RNRA – basketball men, EWSA – Basketball, Women.

Presiding during the handing over of trophies to winners, the Minister of Public Service and

Labour Anastase Murekezi, thanked all employers and employees for the show of team spirit and taking to the values of hard working for self reliance. Murekezi noted that work is more earning an income for supporting families, but provides the very foundations of dignity for individuals and the nation, which should be entrenched in commitment to creative and productive work.

He emphasized the observation of ethics, no matter what the nature of work one might be doing, as this defines one’s walk to a successful career path.
