About 1,200 needy girls are set to get full scholarships throughout upper secondary on top of a 70% tertiary education support. The scholarship programme, which will be implemented in the 10 partner schools (two in each of the five provinces), is funded by Forum For African Women Educationalists (FAWE), Rwanda in partnership with the Master Card Foundation (MCF).

This was revealed during the organisation’s annual review meeting that attracted participants from Rwanda Education Board, representatives from 10 partner schools, districts and  representatives from FAWE regional Secretariat among others.

"This scholarship package will address the beneficiaries’  economic challenges. It will also come with support  and services like tutoring, mentoring, transition, leadership training and net working that will ease their transition to university,” the national coordinator, Eugenie Mukanoheli, explained the importance of the programme.

She said the scholarship programme aims at enabling potentially bright

girls from disadvantaged households to  complete their secondary and university education before making  successful transitions to further education or career. 

The annual review meeting assessed the progress made towards achieving expected results as defined by the project as well as effectiveness and efficiency of strategies used.

FAWE Rwanda has partnered with FAWE regional Secretariat and the Mater Card Foundation; a Canada based independent foundation to enable younggirls from economically disadvantaged families to complete quality education.
