In a bidd to strengthen and support communities, the management and staff of RSwitch -The National E-Payment switch of Rwanda with a network brand "SMARTCASH” home grown for the Rwandan population have donated 2 cows worth Rwf1.2 million and paint to Mere Du Verbe Orphanage located in Kimihurura, a Kigali city surburb.

"We are part of the community, we serve the banks; but now and then we always have to step back and look at our communities and find a way of giving back. We want to start with the Rwandan children especially the orphaned and vulnerable. We were fortunate enough to have made some modest profit which we want to share in kind with the vulnerable. The donation of two cows to the orphanage is only the beginning as we sow a seed of togetherness,” said David Karuletwa, RSwitch Chief Operating Officer

Delphine Kamaliza, the director of orphanage, commended RSwitch staff for the donation of the cows which she said will help in providing milk for the young ones. The Mere Du Verbe Orphanage currently caters for a total of 97 children She adds that painting the orphanage premises is a good gesture for the young ones and will help them live in an organized environment. Alphosine Niyoyungura was raised from Mere Du Verbe orphanage and is currently working with RSwitch. She says her fellow workmates visiting the orphanage and donating two cows to them is like a reunion with her family.
