GICUMBI-BASED Inyemera FC are aiming to win the national women football league title after beating Pool A archrivals The Winners 1-0 on Saturday.

The only goal of the game between the two title contenders was scored by She-Amavubi striker Albertina Mukashema.

In other Pool A matches, Les Lionnes hammered Muhanga-based Girls Academy 11-0, while Kamonyi picked up three points without kicking a ball after their opponents Bugesera failed to show up.

Inyemera lead the Pool with 27 points, five ahead of The Winners and Kamonyi, who are second and third, respectively, while Huye-based Atletico is bottom with 3 points from 12 matches.

The leaders will face Bugesera and Les Lionnes on April 19 and 25, respectively, before the group stage winds up.

"We are targeting the title and the door is still wide open, we are doing everything possible to achieve the objective and God willing we will make it,” said Inyemera head coach Germaine Bisengimana.

In Pool B, AS Kigali took home free points from their match against ESIR after the Musanze-based side failed to turn up, while Freedom beat Don Bosco Gatenga 3-0.

Grace Nyinawumuntu’s still unbeaten AS Kigali lead pool B with 24 points from 8 matches, eight ahead of second and third-placed ESIR and Rambura, who tie with 16 points, respectively. Don Bosco are in sixth position with a single point.
