ESPOIR BASKETBALL club beat Integrated Polytechnic Regional Center (IPRC) Kigali 89-41 on Friday evening to remain unbeaten at the halfway stage of the season.

Champions of the last two seasons, Jean Bahufite’s team lead the standings with 20 points from 10 matches, three points ahead of Cercle Sportif de Kigali (CSK), who have played a game less.

CSK have a rescheduled league game against UR- Huye campus – due on April 18.

Espoir’s forward Oliver Shyaka scored the game high 19 points, while former national U18 team captain Pascal Karekezi added 17. The Nyamirambo-based outfit remains unbeaten in regular season for two and a half seasons.

"CSK is our major concern because they have shown they are capable to challenge for the title; nonetheless, I am happy that we are still unbeaten at the halfway stage of the season,” Espoir’s head Bahufite told Times Sport.

On-form CSK did not disappoint after beating last season’s first runners-up KBC 108-70 on Friday evening and 100-68 IPRC-Kigali on Saturday.

Against IPRC-Kigali, Patrick Buzangu scored the game high 34 points with his younger brother Mike Buzangu adding 28 points for Janvier Kamanzi’s side.
