Rwandan riders continue to shine in Algeria tour

TEAM RWANDA rider Valens Ndayisenga was named the best climber on Stage 2 of the Tour International de Setif in Algeria on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old Ndayisenga came in third position out of 72 riders.

Russian Sergey Belykh won the 112kn stage in a time of 2h30’46’’, the same time as Frenchman Thomas Lebas, who came in second. 

On general classification, Ndayisenga is in forth position, two minutes behind leader Frenchman, Thomas Lebas.

Team Rwanda head coach Jonathan Boyer said that they are working hard to get more good results in the remaining stages. 

"We will continue to work hard for each competition and we hope we can do much better, our aim is to maintain form and try to make good results every competition we take part in,” Boyer noted.

On Tuesday, another Team Rwanda member, Jean Bosco Nsengiyumva was named the best climber at Stage 3 of the Tour International de Blida in Algeria.

Team Rwanda will not compete in today’s Criterium International de Setif as they have to rest before embarking on the next race, the Tour International de Constantine from March 24-27.

The last two races; Circuit International d’Alger and Critérium International de Blida will be held on March 28th and 29th respectively.
