National football league defending champions Rayon Sports have agreed a three-year sponsorship deal with beer brewer Skol worthy Rwf45 million.

According to the club’s general secretary Olivier Gakwaya, Rayon Sports will receive football kits worthy 50,000 euros  (about Rwf47m) over the next three years.

However, because the national league is sponsorship by Skol’s rival company Bralirwa, through its Turbo King brand, the deal will only be effective during the Peace Cup, Cecafa Kagame Cup and Caf competitions.

Gakwaya confirmed the deal on Friday after meeting with Rwanda football federation officials at the body’s headquarters in Remera to inform them and also get their approval to go ahead with the deal.

"Rayon Sports and Skol had fruitful talks with Ferwafa and the latter, after analysing well the sponsorship contract, gave us the permission to proceed with our plans,” Gakwaya told the press.

He however added: "But we are only allowed to work with Skol for Peace Cup, Cecafa and Caf matches. We cannot wear Skol logo in the local league because it is sponsored by Bralirwa, a rival company.”

Skol will each year provide the Nyanza-based team with balls, jerseys, and other related equipment used in training and competitions as well as offering financial support.

This is the second sponsorship deal that Rayon Sports have secured after Fast Forward shipping company injected Rwf22 millions in the club earlier in the season.
