Six perish in car accident

Six people died in a car accident that occurred in Nyarugenge district of Kigali sector, specifically in the Ruliba cell, Ryamakomari village, on Saturday at 10:00 a.m, Police confirmed to The New Times.

According to Rene Irere, the spokesperson of the Rwanda National Police (RNP)’s Traffic and Road Safety Department, the accident involved a minibus, a Toyota Noah with the registration number RAG 038F, driven by Noel Nzabandora, 28.

The driver was en route from Nyamirambo to Ruliba when the vehicle veered off the road, colliding with a roadside barrier and subsequently crashing into trees. The sequence of events led to the minibus plunging a distance of 15 metres, said Irere.

He added that the bodies of the six victims have been transported to Nyarugenge Hospital.

The deceased individuals are identified as Innocent Ngirinshuti, 43, Miguelle, 5, Venantie Undoyeneza, 42, Sylvia Mpinganzima, 32, Alvin, 7, and Olivier Musoni, 11.

Police say that five additional individuals sustained significant injuries and were promptly taken to CHUK. They included a a French national identified as Loic, Denise Dusingize, Ian Ishimwe, Valerie Mukamuhashyi, and Noel Nzabandora.

According to Police, another victim, Jean Paul Mushokambere sustained minor injuries and has also been transported to CHUK.
