Final

APR 80 KCB 71(men)

KPA 62 STORMS 27(women)

APR held off a late charge by Kenya Commercial Bank to record an 80-71 victory and win the 2007 Zone V Club Championships that climaxed at Amahoro stadium.

APR’s new signing Issa Ngoga led the charge with a game high 26 points, while Shalishali Kimanuka and Blaise Nikobahoze added 14 and 13 points respectively.

The national league champions held a 14 point lead at the end of the third quarter but KCB’s Robert Ikapian and James Njuguna converted six three pointers to build pressure on APR.

However, the pressure was short-lived as fine passing between Ngoga, Nikobahoze and Aboubacar Barame sealed off the game.

On top of being the tournament’s top scorer, Ngoga was also voted as the event’s Most Valuable Player.

"It’s a privilege to be accorded this award. But I think I owe it to my team mates who were outstanding throughout this tournament,” Ngoga excitedly noted. APR’s coach Cliff Owuor was all praise for Ngoga.

"He had a fantastic final. He was very lethal before KCB’s defence and caused them all sorts of problems tonight,” Owuor said.

Meanwhile, in the ladies’ final, it was an all Kenyan affair.
Kenya Ports Authority comfortably cruised to a 62-27 over Storms to lift the ladies’ trophy.

KPA’s Agnes Carolyne who scored 13 points also scooped the MVP award.

The competition attracted 13 clubs, six in the ladies’ and seven in the men’s category.
