SONY ELECTRONICS (Rwanda) has boosted national rally champion Davite Giancarlo with two cameras ahead of the 2014 first round of the Africa Rally Championship which starts next month in Cote d’Ivoire.

The cameras, which are used to capture the rally routes, will be installed in Davite’s Subaru Impreza N11 and will work for a period of two years, according to Sony country manager for Rwanda, Salim Abdulgani.

Both cameras are valued at US$2000 (about Rwf1.4m).

"We are happy to support Giancarlo in his campaign to become the African champion this season, and we hope and pray that he achieves his targets,” Abdulgani said during a brief press conference at Sony offices located at KCB in Kimihurura.

On his part, Davite, who won the national championship season opener two weeks ago, said, "I feel proud to get more sponsors on board after so many years of using personal resources to ensure that I represent Rwanda well.”

The year started with the Italy-born rally ace receiving sponsorship from Cogebanque. Last season, Davite finished third behind Zambian Jassy Singh and Uganda’s Jas Mangat in the ARC title bid.
