Rwanda Cycling Federation president has tipped youngsters Omar Nizeyimana and Alleluya Joseph to ride their way to the senior national team in the near future.

Aimable Bayingana made the remarks after the Farms Cycling Circuit cycling competition on Saturday which traversed from Rwamagana to Matimba in Nyagatare District, in the Eastern Province

The one-day race was won by Rwamagana-based Amis Sportif club’s Valens Ndayisenga after clocking 3h19’58’’, one second ahead of 16-year-old teammate Nizeyimana, while Alleluya, 17, came in fourth position.

Nathan Byukusenge of Benediction club came in third place. Alleluya, also from Amis Sportif club, crossed the finishing line two minutes behind the winners, and 34 seconds off the vastly experienced Byukusenge, 32.

Bayingana said "These two guys really surprised us with their incredible performance, and if they continue like this, they are bound to be two of our best riders in future. But also it shows that the sport is growing and the future for Team Rwanda looks bright with such talented riders.”

He said they hope to scout and develop more talented young riders, boys and girls from the Rwamagana-based Adrien Niyonshuti Cycling Centre to feed Team Rwanda, which has become one of the top teams on the continent in the last three years.
