RWANDA’S Amavubi team has been exempted from the first round qualification of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

According to the latest Caf communication following an Executive meeting held last week, Amavubi will not know their opponents until 20 days to the kick-off of the second round of qualification.

The draw for the first round will see Mauritania play against Mauritius while Eritrea faces south Sudan.

The winners over two legs in the first round will join 26 teams to engage in two legged fixtures (2nd round) with 14 teams advancing to the third round to be played over two legs as well.

Third round will produce 7 qualifiers to be placed in the group stage which will bring the top 21 ranked teams as per Caf qualification process for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations that was released early this year.

The draw for the knock out stages (second round and Third round) and the group stage will be held on April 27th in Cairo, Egypt.

Amavubi are seeking to put on an improved performance this year when they will engage in 2015 Afcon qualifiers.

If Amavubi manage to negotiate their way out of the second round that could pit them against two formidable outfits, they will join one of the seven groups that will comprise of four teams each.

The top two teams from each group will automatically qualify for the Orange Chan, Morocco 2015 and the best third-place team of the seven groups. In case of equality between two teams in contention for the best third-place spot, a play-off will be played in Morocco.
