Rwanda Taekwondo Federation is preparing two junior players for the 10th WTF World Junior Taekwondo Championships scheduled to be held in Taipei, China from March 20-26.

Emmanuel Twagiramungu and Delphine Uwababyeyi will be making their debut appearances at the global event in the U-15 years’ category.

It will be the second time that Rwanda will compete at this event after Tucker Koonce represented Rwanda at the world event in 2012 in Sharma el Sheikh, Egypt.

Rwanda’s head coach Allan Irene Bagire said, "We have been training hard for this tournament since the beginning of the year and for sure we expect to perform well.”

Twagiramungu and Uwababyeyi have competed on national and regional level and have a combined  total of almost 20 medals between them, mostly gold and silver.

He added that the duo has greatly improved in the past year and that competing at this level will not only have them compete against the world’s best athletes but will also be a challenge that they can use to measure up their ability to perform well at this level.

This event is a qualifying event for the Youth Olympic Games that will be hosted by Nanjing, China from August 16-28.
