Rwanda national team, Amavubi Stars suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to national football league title hopeful APR in a training match played yesterday at Amahoro stadium.

Amavubi head coach Eric Nshimiyimana was using the game to gauge his charges ahead of  next Wednesday’s Fifa International match against Burundi in Bujumbura.

He played down the impact of  the defeat, insisting that come Wednesday, Rwandans will see a totally different team against Burundi.

APR, despite missing ten of their first choice players, who are with the national team, proved far too good with the four goals scored through young strikers Ernest Sugira, Isaie Isonga, Barnabe Mubumbyi and midfielder Hegman Ngoma.

The loss gives Nshimiyimana a clear picture of who will be up to the task against a strong Burundi team fielding ten of their best professional players for the tie. Burundi are fresh from taking part in this year’s African Nations Championships (Chan) held early last month in South Africa.

Amavubi will be boosted by the arrival of professional duo of defender Salomon Nirisarike [Royal Antwerp] and striker Elias Uzamukunda [AS Cannes], who are expected to join camp on Sunday before the team jets out the following day.

The major absentee is skipper Haruna Niyonzima who has busy engagements with his Tanzanian club, Young Africans in the African Champions League.

The Tanzanian champions face reigning African champions Al Ahly from Egypt today in the first leg in Dar es Salaam.
