VINIT Chauhan and skipper Mihir Solanki helped Indorwa cricket club register their first win of the season after defeating Impala Titans in the on-going VR Naidu T20 tournament at Kicukiro ground on Sunday.

Chauhan scored 42 runs with six fours and one six while Solanki made 44 runs.

Nayan Patel’s 34 also came in handy to help Indorwa reach 193/4 in the allotted 20 overs.

Former New Times scribe Julius Mbaraga was the only impressive Impala Titans bowler after bowling four overs, conceding 19 runs and getting two wickets.

Impala Titan’s chase got off to a shaky start, losing many early wickets (4) to Vinit Chauhan.

Veteran Emmanuel Byiringiro’s contribution of 42 runs couldn’t do much as they ended on 121/8.

In the afternoon, Challengers Cricket Club continued their winning streak, beating Telugu CC in their last preliminary game.

Winning the toss Challenger’s skipper Sairam Gopalan chose to bat first. Shafeek Muhammad’s brilliant knock of 88 off 44 balls was the highlight of the day.

Together with Sairam (39), they made a partnership of 104 runs that helped Challengers get to 219/7 their highest score of the year.

A personal best batting performance from Telugu’s Gopal Reddy, who made 43 runs not out, was not enough as his teammates couldn’t rise up to the occasion. They lost by 84 runs.

After last weekend’s games, Telugu who have eight points, and Challengers (with 12 points) proceed to play in the semi finals of the VR Naidu RCA T20 tournament.

In Group A, the battle will be between Victory CC and Kigali CC who face off this weekend in a decider of who qualifies for the semi finals.

Kerala Hunters was the first team to qualify from Group A with eight points from two games.
