Rwandan female cricketers attend cricket clinic in SA

THE fourth edition of the Africa Cricket Association’s (ACA) elite women’s cricket academy programme got underway yesterday in Johannesburg, South Africa at the Willowmore Park Stadium in Benoni.

The five-day clinic will end on Tuesday.

According to the local cricket governing body, Rwanda is being represented by Liliane Umuhoza and Margueritte Vumiliya.

The aim of this week-long Elite Academy is to enhance the players’ cricketing skills as well as motivate and enhance Women’s participation in cricket within Africa.

Other ladies from Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, Ghana and Tanzania will also attend.

They will undergo extensive cricket coaching under the experience and expertise of Feizal Kimmie, the Senior Development Officer for the ICC-Africa regional office.  The Elite Academy for Women will be a vigorous test of cricket skills on all participants.
