Turbo King National Football League defending champions Rayon Sports beat bottom-placed Amagaju 2-0 yesterday at Stade de Kigali to close the gap on leaders APR. Rayon is just three points away from APR after the win.

It was a positive response for Luc Eymeal's team following the disappointment of exiting the Caf Champions League at the preliminary round at the hands of Congolese side AC Leopards last weekend.

Rayon, second on the table, took the lead through a well-placed header by striker Meddie Kagere in the 45th minute off a good cross by Robert Ndatimana from the left wing.

Luc Eymeal's team, that dominated the first half, continued the supremacy in the second half and deservedly got their second goal when Cedric Amiss turned in a neat pass from team captain Fuadi Ndayisenga in the 52nd minute.

Amagaju had two good chances to shake the net but midfielder Adolph Hakundukize and striker Yumba Kaite failed to beat Rayon goalie Jean Luc Ndayishimiye.

The win took Rayon Sports to 40 points, three points behind APR albeit with one game in hand against Police which will be played on Sunday.

Meanwhile, AS Kigali's rescheduled league match against Marines, which was supposed to be played today, has been pushed to Saturday on request by AS Kigali, who returned from Bujumbura on Tuesday.

Andre Gasambungo's side asked for more time to recuperate from the exhaustion of the Bujumbura encounter where they eliminated Burundian side Academie Tchite on Sunday to qualify for the Caf Confederation Cup.
